What should be included in the program for a supplier day?

A supplier day is neither a conference nor a staff party. The program must combine business content with genuine connection—otherwise, everyone will leave with a goodie bag but no sense of shared purpose.

A good program typically consists of four key components:

Opening remarks by senior management — the CEO or CCO kicks off the day and sets the stage: where the company stands, where we’re headed, and what role suppliers play in that. Not a standard presentation — a genuine statement about our partnership.

Strategic update by topic — depending on the agenda: roadmap update, sustainability strategy, quality requirements for the coming year, procurement policy. Concrete, honest, and interactive where possible.

Working sessions by segment — this is where the value of the day lies. Small groups, tailored to each supplier segment, with real topics of discussion: pain points, opportunities for improvement, and joint plans. No panel discussions — just roundtable conversations.

Networking and closing event — an opportunity for informal interaction. A drinks reception, a group dinner, or a tour of the production facilities. This is where relationships are strengthened—not in the conference room.

The exact format depends on the number of participants, the objective, and the available budget. Live Impact tailors this to each specific project. You can read more in the article “Organizing a Supplier Day.”
