Be sure to clearly communicate the start time and provide context. In your invitation, include not only the start time, but also when the doors open and what the first part of the program is. "Doors open at 5:30 p.m., program starts promptly at 6:00 p.m." is more specific than just "6:00 p.m." Send a reminder 48 hours before the event with practical information: parking, public transportation, and what to expect upon arrival. Guests who are well-prepared are more likely to arrive on time. Also, include an attractive pre-event program: a reception with drinks and music gives guests a reason to arrive early.
